The Odd Couple (play)

April 20-28

Saturdays at 7pm, Sundays at 1pm

April 20, at 7 pm, April 21, at 1 pm, April 27, at 7pm and April 28, at 1 pm.

Distressed after his wife demands a trial separation, obsessively neat Felix Ungar  moves in with his slovenly friend Oscar Madison , whose wife has divorced him.

One of the most celebrated American comedies of all time, and considered Neil Simon’s most well-crafted and popular play, “The Odd Couple” is a hilarious take on the conflicts between two friends when they attempt to live together. Felix transforms Oscar’s messy, unsanitary, but comfortable, apartment into a sparkling clean—and highly regulated—space, driving Oscar crazy and exasperating even their poker buddies with his annoying ways.

Tom Sawyer (youth production)

July 26 + 27

Children’s Theatre Workshop, where young performers, 8-12 years old, embark on a journey into the world of theater! This workshop offers a dynamic blend of acting and dance sessions, designed to ignite creativity, foster teamwork, and cultivate a love for the performing arts. Through engaging exercises and hands-on activities, they will learn new vocabulary, explore stage directions and character development, and sharpen their improvisational skills. Dancers of all levels will discover the joy of movement and expression.

But the heart of our workshop lies in our production rehearsals, where students come together to bring a beloved story to life. Under the direction of seasoned professionals, they'll collaborate on every aspect of the show. As they work towards the final performances of "Tom Sawyer," based on the timeless classic by Mark Twain and adapted into a children's musical by Bill Scurato, students will develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of accomplishment. All workshop participants will perform in the production: casting of specific roles will be determined at our first workshop session.

We foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to take risks and explore their artistic potential. Through theater games, team-building activities, and constructive feedback sessions, we encourage growth, creativity, and camaraderie among our young performers.

The sessions will be held Monday to Friday; July 15-26 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.  The workshop will culminate with two performances on Friday and Saturday; July 26 at 7:00 p.m. and July 27 at 1:00 p.m. All activities will be held at the Country Gate Playhouse, 114 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ. The participation fee is $225.
